The newest member of the In The Crease family, Curtis McElhinney, was named the American Hockey League (AHL) Goaltender Of The Month for the month of October and also just received the AHL Goaltender Of The Month honors for the week ending November 11th.
McElhinney, a resident of Denver, spent his summer with ITC helping coach at our Top-8 camp, participating in the "Pro/College" week and training privately.
In his 8th year as a professional McElhinney has appeared in 69 NHL games for 4 different teams (Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Phoenix Coyotes). He signed a one-year contract with the Columbus Blue jackets this past July and is now playing for the Springfield Flacons of the AHL.
The Falcons currently claim the top spot in the AHL with McElhinney leading the league with 8 wins and 4 shutouts. McElhinney posted back-to-back shutouts last week bringing his save percentage to an impressive .955 and his goals against average to 1.29.
