ITC Student Mike Garman, a rookie goaltender for the Colorado Eagles, received the first start of his professional career Saturday night. Garman saw 39 shots, turning away 35 of them to post a .872 save percentage
Garman (6-foot-1, 195-pounds) spent the past three seasons at Cornell University, playing sparingly in his first two. In 19 games last season, however, the left-handed catching netminder posted stellar stats, going 8-8-1 with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. He graduated after his third collegiate year with hopes of starting his professional hockey career.
Prior to attending Cornell, Garman played two seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers in the British Columbia Hockey League. Combined, he went 43-18-0, with a 2.71 GAA and a .895 SV%. In 2007-08, he helped guide the team to the BCHL's regular season title.
